Q and A time- Hydrating Foundation Option

My gal pal Linz asked MascaraJunkie for a wee bit of help.  See, she just moved from the suburbs of NYC to the insanely beautiful Fort Collins, CO.  Great for me since the plane ride is shorter to Colorado, but boo for Linz because her skin is uber parched and she is looking for a foundation option to hydrate her skin better.

The #1 option for me is Bobbi Brown’s EXTRA Repair Foundation with SPF 25 as it’s infused with Shea Butter and Primrose Oil to lock in moisture and give you a perfect finish.  Apply with a foundation brush as a little goes a LONG way!  For a more budget friendly option I would check out Maybelline’s Dream Smooth Mousse.

Others to try would be Kohn Gen Do Moisture Foundation or Tarte’s Smooth Operator Amazonian Clay Tinted Moisturizer- a “water- to- silicon” formula.  These all work wonders but will be more powerful and stay put longer with the help of a primer.

I also would encourage Linz to re-evaluate her skincare routine.  Switching over to a gentler cleanser will help, try ones like Weleda Gentle Cleansing Milk, REN’s Ultra Moisture Cleansing Milk, or Aveeno’s Ultra Calming Cleanser.  Then adding a serum to her routine with Hyaluronic Acid (it basically sucks water to your skin cells) like Peter Thomas Roth’s VIZ 1000 or Jan Marini’s C-ESTA serum will ensure your face gets the hydration it needs.
